Check us out on Friday...we will begin posting a couple of times a week on the Red Dirt Chronicles site. They showcase Red Dirt culture and their contributors are people from across the great state of Oklahoma including Oklahoma Horizon. We will post on Friday mornings and Tuesday evenings so be sure to check their site as well as our own to see what we are doing and where we are heading. This should be a very good partnership!

Where the Red Fern Grows
Native American legend has it that a long time ago, a little boy and a little girl were wandering through the Cherokee Hills when they were caught in a blizzard. It wasn't until Spring that their two little bodies were found lying next to each other, clasping each other's hands. Between the two little ones, a stunningly, beautiful, red fern had sprouted, leaning it's vast shade over each child. This week on Oklahoma Horizon, learn how this legend influenced Oklahoma author Wilson Rawls to write the favorite children's book, "Where the Red Fern Grows."
